Friends of Rudston are a friendly and welcoming bunch of parents from all walks of life who are passionate about raising much needed funds that help improve the school. We are also a registered charity, no. 1117947.

Our events bring the community together, fund extra resources and positively impact and directly benefit all of our children by making their learning experiences much more fulfilling and exciting.

As parents, we feel involved and part of the school community, we enjoy connecting with other parents from all year groups, have fun planning events, share ideas and bringing a smile to our children’s faces.

Over the last years we have organised colour runs, summer fairs, junior discos and funded the whole school ice cream van, whole school Santa gifts, Christmas party in a bag, contributed to the year 6 hoodies, awards & trophies and so much more.

We are grateful for any support from parents, teachers and friends. As a parent you are automatically a member of our PTA and your voice matters. Everyone’s involvement is absolutely vital! Without enough volunteers, events are at risk of being cancelled and we won’t be able to raise enough funds to support school.

Joining us will have a real impact and your support matters. Although you are most welcome to, you do not have to come to every meeting or every event. Your contribution is valued regardless of the amount of time you can spare.

Here are some examples of what you can do:

• Share with us any ideas, suggestions and/or questions you have.
• Come along to our meetings.
• Join our list of volunteers helping us at events. We will contact you when we have an event, and if you are free to help, just let us know.
• Help at events like inflating footballs for the summer fair, wrap presents or fold raffle tickets, help out an hour at a stand- all of which is invaluable to us.
• Help in the background. We have volunteers who are not able to come to meetings but happily contact businesses for us, order prizes or resources we need to hold our events, create flyers, sorting pre-loved uniforms… We are sure there is something that fits your unique availability and interests.
• We’re always looking for different prizes, including raffle prizes. Can you help or do you know someone who is able to help us?
• Donate items in support of our events. Every little helps and is very much appreciated.

We know that coming to a meeting for the first time can feel intimidating so let us reassure you that we are a normal bunch of people with a shared mission to create fun activities for our children and to raise essential funds for the school. Be brave and you’ll see that coming to our meetings will soon feel like catching up with friends.
